Hayeon Song

Professor
Hayeon is the director of the HAI-Lab. Her primary research interest is ways to use new media (e.g., artificial intelligence, robots, games, social media, mobile phones, etc.) as persuasive and educational vehicles to promote health. Her broader research areas include media psychology, health communication, and human-computer interaction. She received a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Southern California, USA, in 2008. She was a Professor at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, WI, USA, and Gachon University in South Korea. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Interaction Science at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea. She co-authored Technology and health: Promoting attitude and behavior change (Elsevier, 2020). Dr. Song is a member of the International Communication Association and has received several top paper awards. Her research has been mentioned in the media worldwide including CNN, PsychologyToday, Daily Mail (UK), Yahoo Philippines News, Times of India, and Korea Central Daily.
